Cambodia Gambling Dens
May 15th, 2019 by Isai

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, features 150 slots and sixty table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that features a number of amenities in addition to the casino, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight table games.
