Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is against the law. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features a number of luxuries in addition to the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
